From time to time we try to provide online casino gamblers with a few tips which hopefully may increase your chances of winning. Any visit to a land based casino gives you the opportunity to meet and watch other gamblers, and almost invariably there will be someone who claims that they can always win at Blackjack. How much truth there is in this sort of claim is obviously open to question, bearing in mind that all casinos are in business to make money, but Blackjack is one of the many online casino games where a basic understanding of the game should improve your chances of winning. Our online casino tips this week are therefore related to Blackjack, and concentrate specifically on the odds of beating the dealer. One essential fact you need to know is how many decks are in use, which can normally be found in the game rules on the online casino site you are playing. The more decks, the less relevant are the cards on the table. Next you should be aware that the dealer generally has to draw a card to 16, so if you stand on 16 or less you are gambling that the dealer will bust. It is also obvious that if you exceed 21, you will lose whatever the dealer has, so your primary objective is to create a hand between 17 and 21, to be in the game. Clearly the odds of drawing a card to achieve this objective depend on the first two cards dealt, but remember there are only 13 possible cards of which 4 count as 10. Obviously, an opening hand of 11 or less guarantees that the gambler will not bust, but even on 11 there are still 5 of the 13 possible cards which will require the gambler to make another more difficult decision. There are many books and online sites available which suggest the most logical choices a Blackjack gambler can make based on the odds, and we would recommend that online Blackjack gamblers are aware of these suggestions, but even then success is not guaranteed. Enjoy the game but don’t be reckless.
