For those gamblers who have played casino games at a land based casino, it is possible that you have noticed that the Baccarat table, if there is one, is often separated from the main area because it was generally recognised as a game primarily for high rollers. Certainly the table stakes were normally higher than most casino gamblers were prepared to play, and the James Bond films tended to accentuate this belief. Online casinos have now changed that idea and Baccarat, or Punto Banco as it is sometimes known, can now be played for as little as 1 Euro in most online casinos. We have explained the rules of Baccarat in our rules pages, but for the novice it is actually not necessary to know the rules in detail to be able to play at an online casino. Only two hands are dealt, namely the Bank and the Player, and both hands are controlled by the dealer according to the strict rules of this casino game. There are also only three possible bets in Baccarat, and the gambler only has to decide which of the two hands will win, or whether the two hands will be tied. Playing Baccarat at an online casino could not be easier, because once the online gambler has placed the bet, the hands are dealt and played automatically according to the rules and if you have selected the winning hand, you are automatically paid out. The Bank does have a slight edge because the hand is played second as in blackjack, so a bet on the Bank will normally pay evens less 5% whereas a bet on the Player will generally pay even money. A tie will pay 8/1 or 9/1 depending on which online casino you playing, so it is worth checking the house rules before you start. Baccarat is a very fast casino game when played at an online casino, but is great fun and requires no skill. As we have said, you do not really need to understand the game rules to be able to play, but check out our rules pages and take advantage of the free play option available on most online casinos before playing for real money, you’ll soon get the hang of it.
