Casino games played at an online casino generally fall into two categories. First there are the casino games such as roulette, the dice games and the slots, all of which most gamblers would consider to be pure games of chance. Secondly, we come to the casino games which require a degree of skill and experience, and this category would include card games such as blackjack and of course poker. It is of course true that even these casino games require a bit of luck, but experienced players will tell you that the art of when to bet and when to fold will dramatically increase your chances of winning in the long run. Probably the best illustration of the importance of this art is Texas Hold’em poker, by far the most popular online poker format because it involves up to four gambling decisions in each hand. Full details of Texas Hold’em poker can be found on our casino games pages, but it may be useful to explain just how Texas Hold’em enables online poker players to exercise their skill and knowledge at various stages of the game. Each player is initially dealt two cards face down, and these cards are the basis of the first betting round. Three community cards are then dealt face up in the middle of the table, and these cards can be used by any or all of the players to improve their hand. A second betting round now begins with each player making decisions on whether to call, raise or fold, based on the five cards they have available to them at this stage and of course whether the two remaining community cards yet to be dealt could improve their hand or indeed their opponents hands. A further betting round takes place after each of the two remaining community cards are dealt, with the last betting round providing seven cards for each player to use. As we have already pointed out, Texas Hold’em poker builds both the excitement and the pot through a series of betting rounds, each of which requires an important decision from the players. Texas Hold’em is a fascinating online casino game, but if you are new to this form of poker, keep your stakes low until you have gained some experience.
