The online casinos have brought us a huge variety of new casino games to enjoy, but this has not in any way reduced the popularity of the more traditional casino games such as roulette and blackjack, which were just about the only casino games those of us who visited real casinos had the chance to play. Blackjack in particular has retained its appeal amongst online casino games players, probably because so many of us played pontoon when we were growing up and we therefore think we know the game well enough to play for money. On the face of it blackjack is a simple casino game, but there are some elements of blackjack which we feel need to be highlighted particularly for new online casino games players. First is the misconception that the object of blackjack is achieve a hand as close as possible to 21. It is not, the sole objective in blackjack is to beat the dealer and one thing is guaranteed and that is that you can’t do that if you have bust. Ideally of course any blackjack player would enjoy being dealt 17 or above on every hand, so that there are no difficult decisions and the result is entirely down to luck. Unfortunately this does not happen and your success or otherwise will probably depend on the decisions you make when faced with hands of 16 or less. Don’t forget that your only edge over the dealer is that the dealer must draw a card on 16, which statistically provides a 60% chance of busting the hand. It is also important to take account of the dealer’s hand when making your decision. If the dealer is showing a 5 or a 6 for example the hand is potentially weak, so don’t be over ambitious in your own decisions and lose the chance to test the hand. Almost all online casino games are dependent on the luck of the draw, but when playing games such as blackjack it is possible to improve your chances of winning by making careful and considered decisions.
