Maybe not Casino news but important betting news as today at Lingfield Park marks the long awaited comeback of Kieren Fallon after three years absence from British racing but the pundits are asking whether he still has the determination and toughness to win and indeed whether he should be allowed back in racing at all. This is the track where, when riding Ballinger Ridge in 2005, accusations of race fixing started and Fallon ended up at the Old Bailey where the trial collapsed but as we all know, literally hours later he was accused by the French racing authorities of failing a drugs test at Deauville and an 18 month ban was handed down. This was not the first time that Fallon had failed a drugs test, in fact it was the second, and despite having won 15 classics, some are alleging that he has done so much harm to racing that he should not be allowed back at all. Nevertheless, back he is and Fallon who is now 44 will need all the skill and determination he can muster to get back to winning ways and it is going to be a long day starting in the 2:20 at Lingfield and ending in the 8:50 at Kempton. Fallon has 7 rides in total (4 at Lingfield this afternoon and 3 at Kempton this evening) and is spreading his bets by riding for 7 different trainers and perhaps his best chances of a win will be one of his first two rides (Rare Malt in the 2:20 and Roodee King in the 3:20). Bookmakers are giving him every chance with both Paddypower and Ladbrokes offering 4/1 for zero winners today. Ladbrokes are 2/1 for one winner but only 7/4 for two winners whereas Paddypower are 7/4 for one winner and 15/8 for two.
