Irish casino news and Ladbrokes online business

By admin on 2013-10-01 12:28:12

Although not specifically Irish casino news, the latest problems affecting Ladbrokes online casino and online sports betting business makes disappointing reading if you are a shareholder in the company. Apart from Paddy Power, Ladbrokes undoubtedly have the biggest High street presence in Ireland and because of that also have a good online customer base in the country. Unfortunately they have consistently failed to compete with rivals such as William Hill or the internet only companies like Bet365 in the overall digital gaming market, and have now been forced to issue a second profits warning this year. It would appear that the main problems still relate to the online casino and related online gambling divisions with operating profits from the digital division now expected to be between £13.5m and £17.5m less than expected. Richard Glynn, chief executive of Ladbrokes apparently now has until next summer to turn things around if recent comments from the chairman to the leading shareholders are confirmed. Mr Glynn has been in post for three years now and has been consistently optimistic that the problems with the digital division are over. This year has seen Ladbrokes finally accept that their attempt to grow their online business internally has so far failed, and this area of the business has now been put in the hands of the highly successful online casino software supplier Playtech. It was of course Playtech who were behind the success of the William Hill online casino and online sports betting websites, amongst others. Here at onlinecasino.ie we hope that this move will finally reposition Ladbrokes as one of the major online casino operators and not just in Ireland. We also hope to see a significantly improved range of casino games on their site as part of this drive for success.
