There are several conflicting opinions as to why the high street bingo clubs have been struggling over recent years, with the smoking ban high on many peoples list of potential reasons. Certainly the pubs and clubs have also suffered significantly from the smoking ban, but as far as the bingo clubs are concerned some people think that the introduction of online casinos has also had a serious effect. Widespread access to the internet has of course changed our approach to many things, particularly shopping, banking and arranging holidays, but what about online gambling. Clearly the betting shop operators have felt the pinch since more people started online gambling, but that does not appear to have happened to the real land based casinos. The fact that we are now able to play a vast selection of casino games, including online bingo, does not appear to have reduced the attendance at the real casinos so why should it be seen as contributing to the fall in attendance at the bingo clubs. Some would even argue that online casinos are more likely to effect the real casinos because they offer so much more choice of casino games, including more traditional casino games. There is clearly no lack of interest in the game of bingo because online bingo is reported to be one of the most popular online casino games, so perhaps bingo fans really have chosen to play online bingo rather than visit their local bingo club. The main argument against that theory is that the regular weekly trip to the bingo was undoubtedly as much a social event as a gambling activity for most people. Whatever the real reason there is no doubt that online bingo is great fun and most online casinos offer a variety of different online bingo games.
