A winning hand is simply one where the blind card has a value between the two open cards, and is normally paid at even money on the player’s stake. Before the blind card is revealed, the player has an opportunity to double the ante bet if there is a good chance of a winning hand, and this is the only decision which needs to be made. There are a couple of exceptions to the even money pay-out both of which depend on the values and spread of the two open cards. If the spread is 3 or less, there is much less chance of a winning hand so the pay-out is increased to reflect those odds, and is also possible that the two open cards are a pair in which case the only winning hand would be if the third card matches the first two. If it does the pay-out would normally be 11/1, a good return if your luck is in. There is also the chance that the two open cards are consecutive numbers, in which case a winning hand is impossible and the hand is void.
