Another weekend of sporting activity behind us and as usual with an FA Cup weekend it provided the surprises that we all try to avoid in our betting. In Saturdays article we nearly got it right all the way but Wigan let us down. At least we were correct about leaving Spurs-Leeds well alone and we were right about Stoke being a generous 4.5. This leaves Chelsea as the only club from the top 4 to still be in the competition and with a tie against Cardiff to come, can anybody beat them? Paddy Power doesn’t seem to think so as they are offering only 6/4 but that might prove to be quite a good bet at the end of the day. Manchester City are the nearest rivals at 10/3 and they are also 12/1 for the cup double ahead of tonight’s return game at United.
Other activity at the weekend was in Abu Dhabi where despite losing by one stroke Ian Poulter recorded his fourth consecutive top ten finish on the European Tour and moved into the World’s top ten which re-ignites the debate about when he will win a major. The four majors are of course the US Masters, the US Open, The Open and the PGA Championship and Paddy Power is quoting 11/1 for him to win any one of them. If you care to choose which major he will win you can get 40/1 on the Masters, 66/1 on the US Open or the PGA and 33/1 on the Open
